The Dadong Yu Jing (Jade Scripture of the Great Cavern) 大洞玉经

As an early classic of the Shangqing School, it is one of the transmitted versions of the Shangqing Dadong Zhenjing (True Scripture of the Great Cavern of Shangqing). According to the postscript by Gong Detong included at the end of the text, this version should date from the Song and Yuan dynasties (960–1368 CE).

Originally composed of two scrolls, it is included in the "Benwen Category" (a section of the Taoist Canon dedicated to core scriptural texts) under the "Dongzhen Division" of the Daozang (Taoist Canon).

The scripture is also divided into thirty-nine chapters, and its wording differs slightly from that of the Maoshan Sect Altar Version (i.e., the six-scroll version).

After each chapter of the scripture, there is one jade talisman (yufu) and one section of invocatory text (zhuci), along with annotations by "True Person Zhao of Taixuan" (Taixuan Zhao Zhenren). Before the main text of the thirty-nine chapters, there are contents such as the ritual rules for reciting the scripture (songjing lifa), talismanic incantations (fuzhou), visualization diagrams (cunsi tu), and the Dadong Shenhui Yinshu (Hidden Book of the Divine Wisdom of the Great Cavern). After the thirty-nine chapters, there are additional texts including the "Incantation of True Person Taixuan" (Taixuan Zhenren Zhou), the Dadong Neilian Yu Zhang (Jade Chapter on Internal Refinement of the Great Cavern), and the Yuqing Dadong Neilian Yu Jing (Jade Scripture on Internal Refinement of the Great Cavern of the Jade Purity Realm).

The overall content of the text focuses on deity visualization (sishen) and scripture recitation, which is roughly similar to the Maoshan Sect Altar Version. However, significant differences exist between the two versions in terms of chapter structure, phrasing, talisman diagrams, and invocatory texts.
