The Dao Shi Ming Jing Fa 洞玄灵宝道士明镜法

Paul Peng
The Method of the Bright Mirror for Cavern Mysterious Numinous Treasure Taoists has an unknown author and date of composition.

It is included in the Orthodox Unity Section of Daozang (the Taoist Canon).

This text describes the method of seeing forms by looking into a mirror and the recipe for making medicines for rubbing the mirror. It is claimed that looking into the mirror can enable one to shapeshift, sharpen their hearing and eyesight, summon deities, and attain the Dao. Hanging a mirror indoors can ward off all evil spirits and force ghosts and ancient creatures to reveal their true forms.

This method also appears in The Essential Scripture of the Upper Clear Bright Mirror.
