The Daoist Who Pretended to Be Mad, a figure of the Tang Dynasty, was also known by the Taoist title "Lang of the Ashes Sack" (Huidailang).
He studied under Zhai Qianyou (i.e., Zhai Fayan, styled Qianyou) and was proficient in the techniques of Neidan (Internal Alchemy—a core Daoist practice focused on refining one’s inner essence, energy, and spirit to attain spiritual transcendence).
