The Dongxuan Lingbao Ziran Jiutian Shengshen Zhang Jing Zhu 洞玄灵宝自然九天生神章经注

Annotations on the Scripture of the Chapters on Generating Spirits from the Nine Heavens, Naturally Revealed by the Mysterious Grotto Lingbao (Dongxuan Lingbao Ziran Jiutian Shengshen Zhang Jing Zhu), annotated by Hua Yangfu, a scholar of the Yuan Dynasty.

In three scrolls, it is included in the Daozang (Taoist Canon) under the Dongxuan Bu (Section of the Mysterious Grotto) and Yujue Lei (Category of Jade Commentaries).

Prefaced by Zhang Shouqing, the True Lord of Taihe, in the Renyin year of the Zhishun reign of the Yuan Dynasty (1332 CE), the preface states that there were dozens of ancient annotations on the Scripture of Generating Spirits (Shengshen Jing). Hua Yangfu’s annotation synthesizes the strengths of various schools, elaborates on the Dao of Elixir (Neidan, internal alchemy), and is concise yet accessible.

The commentary asserts that the way of cultivation lies in "honoring qi (vital energy) and valuing the physical form, preserving life and cherishing the spirit." Perceiving one’s innate nature and comprehending the Dao enables transcendence of life and death: "Humans experience life and death, but nature itself is beyond life and death. Those who transcend life and death—have they not comprehended the Dao? Have they not perceived their innate nature?" This viewpoint is similar to the Neidan (internal alchemy) cultivation methods of the Northern School of Quanzhen Taoism.
