The Dongzhen Supreme Purple Text and Cinnabar Chapter 洞真太上紫文丹章

Also known as The Hidden Text in Green Characters from the Nine Heavens and Jade Clarity.

As an early classic of the Shangqing School (Higher Clarity School) of Taoism, it was roughly compiled during the Eastern Jin Dynasty.

Originally a chapter of The Dongzhen Jade Clarity Hidden Script Scripture, it was later separated to become an independent text. The present version is included in the "Zhengyi" (Orthodox Unity) section of the Daozang (Taoist Canon).

The text contains a 120-character "Hidden Text in Purple Script, Cinnabar Chapters, and Green Characters". It is claimed that this text was naturally formed from the essence of the purple radiance condensed by the primordial qi of the Nine Heavens, and was stored in the Jade Clarity Palace of the Heavenly Realm.

If practitioners of Taoism can write and wear this hidden text in accordance with the prescribed method, visualize (cunsi) and chant invocations, while also reciting The Supreme Jade Clarity Hidden Script and Great Cavern True Scripture, they will be able to make purple light emanate from their bodies—illuminating the ten directions, achieving communion with divine beings and attaining true enlightenment, perceiving the vast cosmos clearly, and causing "all demons to bind themselves and perish on their own".
