Du Zhichong lived during the Zhizhi period of the Yuan Dynasty (1321-1323).
He held the Taoist sobriquet "Baohezi" (Master of Preserving Harmony) and was bestowed the honorific title "Great Master of Pure Truth, Penetrating Subtlety, and Protecting Harmony" (Qingzhen Damiao Baohe Dashi).
Additionally, he was granted a "Zijinlan" (a purple robe trimmed with gold, a symbol of high status in ancient China).
