The Duan Wenjin 段文锦

Paul Peng
Duan Wenjin was a native of Anren during the Chenghua reign of the Ming Dynasty.

His courtesy name was Sulian, and he was a Taoist priest at Dongguan Courtyard on Longhu Mountain in Jiangxi.

As recorded in Longhu Mountain Records, Duan Wenjin’s Taoist arts were efficacious and manifested miracles, earning him a renowned reputation in his time.

During the Chenghua reign (1465–1487), he was summoned to the imperial court. His answers to the emperor’s questions satisfied the throne, and he was appointed as "Zan Jiao of the Zhenren Mansion" (an official position responsible for assisting in teaching Taoist doctrines at the residence of the accomplished Taoist "Zhenren").
