Fang Qianzhi
Fang Qianzhi, with the courtesy name Daochong, was a native of Bo County in Zhaojun Prefecture of Jizhou (now part of Hebei Province) during the Liang Dynasty of the Southern Dynasties.
He entered Tianmu Mountain to practice Daoism. In daily life, he guided and educated local villagers through his Daoist virtues and teachings, encouraging the common people to abandon evil and embrace goodness, and to convert to Daoism.

When there were villagers who died in poverty, he would bury their bones and corpses (to give them a proper burial), and provided relief to those in extreme need or urgent distress.
He taught people to practice major Daoist rituals: during fasting periods, he required reciting the Shifang Chan (Repentance Text for the Ten Directions) at the six canonical times of the day (a traditional way of dividing the day in ancient China).
Prince Shaoling of the Liang Dynasty heard that Fang Qianzhi’s Daoist attainments and virtues were extraordinary, so he sent messengers to invite Fang to meet him repeatedly. However, Fang Qianzhi refused to see the prince, and was revered by people at that time.
