Gao Rendong, a Taoist priest from Mengshan Mountain in Yunnan, lived during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty.
He was steadfast in his Taoist faith and had extraordinary aspirations. Records of the Origin and Flow of the Supreme Precepts states: In the ninth year of the Tongzhi reign (1870), he received the Great Three Precepts from Master Zhang Yuanxuan at Baiyun Guan in the capital.

Endowed with the talent to defend and pass on the Taoist Dharma, he became the 20th generation precept-transmitting master.
