The Golden Casket and Jade Mirror Rites FULL NAME IS
The Dongxuan Ritual of Illuminating the Netherworld for Longevity with the Golden Cabinet and Jade Mirror of the Supreme Dao
Author unknown. Judging from its content and wording, it is believed to date from the Tang or Song Dynasty.

Consisting of one scroll, it is included in the Dongshen Section (Divine Grotto Section) of the Daozang under the category of Rituals and Ceremonies.
Falsely attributed to the Supreme Lord of the Dao delivering a discourse, this scripture was transmitted by the True Person of the Left Mystery to the True Person of the Penglai Palace.
It states that the Supreme Old Lord informed all immortals and true beings: "Sentient beings in the mortal world cannot uphold the pure and tranquil qi of heaven and earth bestowed upon them innately; they turn away from the true nature, indulge in desires and material pursuits, thus committing all kinds of sins and encountering various disasters and hardships."
For this reason, the Supreme Old Lord expounded the methods to free sentient beings from karmic retributions and sufferings.
The deliverance methods include repenting for past wrongdoings, reverently paying homage to all Heavenly Lords and True Persons, reciting their honorific titles daily, and praying to the supreme true beings to forgive sins and transgressions.
