The Golden Register Decalogic Recitation Rite 金箓斋十回度人三朝转经仪

Paul Peng

The Golden Register Decalogic Recitation Rite FULL NAME IS

Ritual of Reciting Scriptures at the Three Daily Audiences for the Ten Recitations of the Salvation Scripture in the Golden Register Fasting

The compiler remains anonymous.
Judging from its content and literary style, it was presumably compiled during the Ming Dynasty.

As a single scroll, it is incorporated into the Ritual Norms Section of the Cavern Mystery Division of The Daozang.

The text is divided into three parts: Ritual of Reciting Scriptures at the Morning Audience for the Ten Recitations of the Salvation Scripture in the Golden Register Fasting, Ritual of Reciting Scriptures at the Midday Audience for the Ten Recitations of the Salvation Scripture in the Golden Register Fasting, and Ritual of Reciting Scriptures at the Evening Audience for the Ten Recitations of the Salvation Scripture in the Golden Register Fasting. This ritual was also performed for holding the Grand Golden Register Fasting by imperial edict, involving ten cycles of reciting The Numinous Treasure Supreme Wonderful Scripture of Unlimited Salvation for All Beings, paying homage to the Heavenly Worthies and divine spirits of the Ten Directions in sequence, and praying for blessings to "protect and stabilize the emperor, ensure the peace and tranquility of the imperial reign, perpetuate eternal peace, and enjoy lasting purity and serenity".

Its core content is largely identical to that of Ritual of Inaugurating and Concluding the Three Daily Audiences for the Ten Recitations of the Salvation Scripture in the Golden Register Fasting, but the ritual proceedings and textual sequences differ. In the ritual master’s memorial address, it mentions invoking patriarchs of the school such as the Zhengyi Heavenly Master, the Female Master, the Successor Master, and the Lineage Master—indicating that this ritual was practiced by Taoist priests of the Zhengyi School during the Ming Dynasty, embodying the doctrinal inheritance of The Dao and the cosmic order of Taiji.
