The Golden Register Dissolution Rite FULL NAME IS
The Numinous Treasure Golden Register Dismantling Rite
The compiler was originally unnamed. Judging from its content and literary style, it was presumably composed in the Song Dynasty, and is thus reckoned as one of the revised and emended rituals of the Golden Register Fasting by Yang Jie, Zhang Shangying and other Taoist scholars of the Northern Song Dynasty.
It is incorporated into the Section of Ritual Norms under the Cavern Mystery Section of The Daozang. This ritual was performed at the imminent conclusion of the Golden Register Fasting, for the dissolution of the ritual altar and mat, as well as the declaration of merits and submission of memorials to the divine realm.
Its ritual proceedings include paying homage to the master with mindful invocation, reciting the divine incantations of the Five Directions, beating the ritual drums, requesting and proclaiming the ritual positions, paying homage to the cardinal directions, repentance of sins, two memorial invocations, reading out the ritual memorial scrolls, returning the talismanic documents to the divine generals, burning the ritual texts, chanting the Eleven Aspirations, invoking the gods and burning incense, among other rites.
