The Golden Register Office-Conferring Rite 金箓大斋补职说戒仪

The compiler is unnamed.

Judging from its textual content and literary style, it was presumably composed in the Song Dynasty, and is suspected to be one of the rituals of the Golden Register Fasting revised and abridged by Yang Jie, Zhang Shangying and other Taoist scholars of the Northern Song Dynasty.

It is incorporated into the Section of Ritual Norms under the Cavern Mystery Section of The Daozang.

This ritual was performed prior to the establishment of the Grand Golden Register Fasting, for the appointment of all ritual officiants undertaking the fasting ceremony, as well as the expounding of the Ten Supreme Precepts and penalty regulations for violations of the fasting ritual norms and decorum. Its principal proceedings consist of three parts: the attendant officiant proclaiming the official duties of all ritual officers, the High Priest expounding the precepts, and all officiants sitting in equal seats to announce the disciplinary rules and ritual norms of the precepts.

The disciplinary ritual proceedings in this text are roughly identical to those in The Ritual of Expounding the Radiant Candle Precepts, Penalties, Lamps and Auspicious Prayers for the Cavern Mystery Numinous Treasure Fasting compiled by Lu Xiujing, yet with certain additions, abridgements and revisions made therein.
