The Golden Register Triple Scriptural Audience FULL NAME IS
Ritual of Reciting Scriptures to the Mysterious Numen and Observing Daoist Rites at the Three Daily Audiences for the Golden Register Fasting
The compiler remains anonymous.
Its benedictory prayers contain the verse "May the sacred longevity match the Heaven, and the august Ming shine bright as the sun", thus this text is certainly composed by Taoist priests of the Ming Dynasty.
It is a single scroll, incorporated into the Ritual Norms Section of the Cavern Mystery Division of The Daozang.
The text is divided into three parts: Ritual of Reciting Scriptures to the Mysterious Numen and Observing Daoist Rites at the Morning Audience, Ritual of Reciting Scriptures to the Mysterious Numen and Observing Daoist Rites at the Midday Audience and Ritual of Reciting Scriptures to the Mysterious Numen and Observing Daoist Rites at the Evening Audience.
All three rituals were performed for holding the grand Golden Register Fasting for the imperial house by imperial edict, reciting The Supreme Scripture of the Mysterious Numen of the Big Dipper for One's Birth Destiny and Longevity. They entreat the Three Pure Ones, the Jade Emperor, the Nine Lords of the Big Dipper and other divine spirits to bless the emperor with prolonged life and increased longevity, praying for the sovereign's eternal sacred health and safety, the perpetual stability of the imperial reign, the flourishing of the imperial clan, and the eternal continuity of the imperial calendar.
The ritual proceedings of the three daily audiences are largely similar with minor differences, and all are relatively elaborate and detailed.
