The Gu Shenji 顾神几

Gu Shenji (1710–1777) was a native of Yuanhe in Wujun (now part of Jiangsu Province) during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, and his courtesy name was Sili.

At the age of twelve, he became a Taoist Priest at Yuanmiao Taoist Temple and studied under Xu Dongcun.

In the 17th year of the Qianlong reign (1752), he followed Xu Dongcun to the imperial capital and served as an attendant on duty at the imperial palace hall.

In the 34th year of the Qianlong reign (1769), he returned to Suzhou and took up the post of abbot of Yuanmiao Taoist Temple.

He passed away due to illness in the 42nd year of the Qianlong reign (1777) at the age of 68.
