Guan Dechang was a figure who lived during the Jin and Yuan dynasties. He was officially appointed to the title of "Baoqian Longde Chonghe Dashi" (a high-ranking Taoist honorific, roughly meaning "Master of Treasured Humility, Lofty Virtue and Harmonious Calm") by imperial order, and served as the abbot as well as "Tidian" (an administrative and supervisory official for Taoist temples) of Changchun Palace in Dadu (the capital city of the Yuan Dynasty, now modern-day Beijing).
