The Guan Zhitong 管志通

The Guan Zhitong 管志通

Paul Peng
Guan Zhitong was a native of Jishan during the Yuan Dynasty.

His courtesy name was Heshu. The leader of the Taoist school, holding his seniority in high regard, bestowed upon him the title "Shoulingzi" (Master of Longevity).

At the age of twenty-four, he left his family to embrace Taoism. He was by nature simple and straightforward, with an open and expansive mind.

In appearance, he resembled a stern ancient sage; in spirit, he was free from arrogance or pretension. His words were direct yet gentle, and his intentions were sincere with kindness.

In his leisure time from Taoist practices, he took delight in medicine, using miraculous ointments and rare medicines to treat illnesses. The townsfolk cherished and respected him. He served as the abbot of the Supreme Purity Temple. He passed away at the age of seventy-one, with a lean physique but a clear spirit, and walked with the vigor of the wind.
