The Guo Wuxuan 郭务玄

Guo Wuxuan lived in the early Yuan Dynasty. He had a keen interest in Taoist arts and literary works, and was indeed a "scholar among Taoists" (a Taoist who embodied Confucian scholarly virtues). He served as the abbot of Dongyang Wanshou Palace in Xingan, Linjiang Circuit.

In the sixth year of the Dade era (1302), he traveled east to Longhu Mountain to have an audience with the 38th Celestial Master Zhang. The Celestial Master appointed him to take charge of teaching at Longxing Yulong Wanshou Palace. In the ninth year of the Dade era (1305), he was appointed as the Taoist Administrator of Huizhou Circuit, and soon afterward transferred to the post of Taoist Administrator of Linjiang Circuit. In the fourth year of the Zhida era (1311), he began the process of renaming Dongyang Guan (Dongyang Temple) to Dongyang Wanshou Palace (Dongyang Longevity Palace). In the first year of the Huangqing era (1312), he was bestowed with the Taoist title "Dharma Master of Promoting the Dao, Communicating Truth, and Venerating the Teaching" and appointed as the Supervisor and Abbot of Dongyang Wanshou Palace.
