The He Dejin 和德瑾

He Dejin was a native of Ganquan in Qinzhou (now part of Shaanxi Province) in the early Jin Dynasty, and his literary name was Yulazi (Master Jade Wax).

He once served as a local official in the prefecture. Later, he met an extraordinary person who gave him guidance and enlightenment, so he abandoned his family, lived in seclusion, and practiced the "Nine Returns Golden Elixir Method" (a core inner-alchemy technique in Taoism).
After achieving success in his Taoist cultivation and mastering miraculous and supernatural powers, he traveled again to Mount Zhongnan to spread and teach his Taoist doctrines.

When he met Wang Chongyang (founder of the Quanzhen School of Taoism), they became "friends in the immortal circle". All of Wang Chongyang’s disciples addressed He Dejin as "Uncle Shi" (a respectful title for a Taoist master of the generation above one’s own teacher).
