The He Zhizhang 贺知章
Paul PengShare
He Zhizhang (659-744) was a native of Shanyin (present-day Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province) during the Tang Dynasty; some records also state he was from Yongxing in Kuaiji (present-day Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province).
His courtesy name was Jizhen, and he styled himself "the Uninhibited Guest of Siming".

As recorded in Volume 4 of Xuanpin Lu (Records of Mysterious Worthies): He studied Confucian classics from a young age, and when he grew up, he passed the imperial civil service examination and obtained the title of Jinshi (a top-ranking graduate). His official career progressed from Minister of Rites to Director of the Palace Library.
Later, due to illness, he had a dream in which he traveled to the Heavenly Court, where a true immortal enlightened him and helped him attain the Dao. In the third year of the Tianbao era (744), he requested to become a Taoist priest and converted his residence into Qianqiu Taoist Temple.
He lived to the age of 86.
