The Hu Deguo 胡德果

The Hu Deguo 胡德果

Paul Peng
Hu Deguo was a native of Suzhou during the early Qing Dynasty, and his literary name was Yunlu.

He studied under Shi Daoyuan, from whom he fully mastered Taoist ritual techniques such as the Five Thunder Method and the Yuebo Method.

In the 43rd year of the Kangxi reign (1704), a severe drought hit the Wu region. Song Zhao, the Grand Provincial Administrator, invited Hu Deguo to pray for rain. Hu performed his Taoist rituals, and thunderstorms suddenly broke out shortly after.

From then on, his reputation became even more prominent.
