The Hu Yongcong 胡用琮
Paul PengShare
Hu Yongcong was a figure of the Northern Song Dynasty, with the literary name Chongzhenzi.
He was a Taoist registered at Taiping Xingguo Palace on Mount Lushan. As stated in Volume 50 of Lishi Zhenxian Tidao Tongjian (Comprehensive Mirror of Real Immortals and Their Cultivation of the Dao), Hu Yongcong became a Taoist monk in his early years and dedicated himself to the Taoist faith.

During the Xining era of Emperor Shenzong of the Song Dynasty (1068–1077), he encountered an extraordinary person (a hermit or immortal in Taoist context), who taught him the art of huangbai shu (a traditional Taoist alchemical practice focused on transmuting base metals into gold or silver, and also associated with elixirs for longevity). Later, he attained Taoist immortality and ascended (to the celestial realm, as per Taoist belief).
