The Hu Yuanya 胡元雅
Paul PengShare
Hu Yuanya was a native of Chaling (now Chaling County, Hunan Province) in the early Song Dynasty.
From a young age, he studied Taoism at Dongzhen Guan (Dongzhen Taoist Temple) in his home prefecture. During the Yongxi era (981–987), he was promoted to the position of abbot of the temple.

He was proficient in Taoist arts, and the temple’s incense offerings (a sign of its popularity and devout following) grew increasingly prosperous day by day. As a result, the imperial court granted an order to rename Dongzhen Guan as Qingxia Guan (Qingxia Taoist Temple). After his ascension to immortality (death), Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty ordered the construction of a shrine to enshrine and worship him, naming it Ganying Zhen Palace (Palace of True Response).
During the Jingding era (1260–1261), he was posthumously conferred the title of "True Person Xianyou" (Xianyou meaning "Manifest Blessing").
