The Huang Shouzhong 黄守中
Paul PengShare
Huang Shouzhong, who lived in the early Qing Dynasty, was also known as Jizu Daozhe (the Daoist of Jizu Mountain).
As recorded in Jingai Xindeng (The Lamp in the Golden Hut), he was from Yuezhi (an ancient ethnic group in Central Asia). He called himself Yeda Pojia, which means "a seeker of the Dao". He resided on Jizu Mountain in southern Yunnan, adhering to the secret teachings of Western Indian (Xizhu) magical practices and devoting himself to them with unremitting diligence.

He gained the title Jizu Daozhe and also styled himself Longshu Shanren (the Hermit of Longshu Mountain). In the 16th year of the Shunzhi reign (1659), he went to Baiyun Guan (White Cloud Temple) in the capital. There, Master Wang Kunyang bestowed upon him the name Huang Shouzhong.
In the 55th year of the Qianlong reign (Note: There is an error in the original text; the Qianlong reign lasted from 1736 to 1795, so "1390" should be a mistake, likely a chronological error. The correct year should be around 1790), he received the Three Great Precepts from Master Lanyun. Master Lanyun also learned the magical practices from him, revered him as the inheritor of the Xizhu Xinzong (Western Indian Mind Sect), and compiled the first twelve volumes of Da Fan Xiantian Fen Yin Dou Zhou (The Great Brahma Primordial Heavenly Incantations of Fire and Combat), which were engraved and circulated among the people.
Huang Shouzhong was the 8th-generation precept-master of the authentic Longmen Sect (Dragon Gate Sect) of Taoism and the founding patriarch of the Longmen Xizhu Xinzong (Dragon Gate Western Indian Mind Sect).
