The Jade Register Three-Day Ninefold Audience

The compiler is originally unnamed.

It was roughly compiled from the late Northern Song Dynasty to the early Ming Dynasty.
Consisting of three scrolls, it is incorporated into the Ritual Norms Section of the Cavern Mystery Division of The Daozang.

This text records the ritual of conducting Taoist devotional rites over three days for the imperial-commissioned Grand Jade Register Fasting.

Scroll One contains the rituals of the three audiences (morning, midday and evening) on the first day; Scroll Two features those of the three audiences on the second day; Scroll Three includes those of the three audiences on the third day (with an original note: The Evening Audience Ritual is missing).

The proceedings of the nine audiences across the three days are largely similar with minor differences. The cardinal purpose of all these rituals is to pay homage to the sacred true deities and divine spirits including the Three Pure Ones and the Jade Emperor, perform ritual repentance and make offerings, pray for the salvation and ascension of deceased spirits to the heavenly realm, and also wish for the eternal prolongation of the imperial reign and universal peace and tranquility under heaven, embodying the benevolent essence of The Dao.
