The Ji Zhifu 季志符

The Ji Zhifu 季志符

Paul Peng
Ji Zhifu was a native of Gudi during the Jin and Yuan dynasties, and his Taoist title was Kaizhenzi.

His family had been engaged in farming and sericulture for generations. He studied under the True Person Yuyang, became a Taoist priest, traveled in the Longlü Mountains, and later lived in seclusion in Yaocun Village.

When the war broke out, he took refuge in Wuxing Town of Weixian County. He raised funds to build a Taoist temple named Qingxu Guan (Qingxu Temple) and initiated his disciples such as Li Zhishi and Dong Zhichang into Taoism. When the war gradually subsided, Ji Zhifu took his disciples back to Yaocun Village, renovated the old temple, and the Grand Master Li Zhenchang (the leader of the Taoist school at that time) renamed it Xiuzhen Guan (Xiuzhen Temple).
