The Jia Shanxiang 贾善翔
Paul PengShare
Jia Shanxiang, styled Hongju, was a native of Pengzhou (now part of Sichuan Province) during the reign of Emperor Zhezong of the Northern Song Dynasty. He was granted the title "Master Chongde Wuzhen" (Virtuous and Enlightened True Master) and was an extramundane friend of Su Dongpo (Su Shi).

During the reign of Emperor Zhezong of the Song Dynasty, he wrote Youlong Ji (Record of the Dragon-like) and Gaodao Zhuan (Biographies of Eminent Taoists), which were circulated in the world.
He once lectured on the Lingbao Duren Jing (Lingbao Scripture for Delivering All Beings) at the Taiqing Palace in Bozhou, attracting a large crowd of listeners.
His other works include Taishang Chujia Chuanduo Yi (Taoist Rites for Monastic Initiation and Transmission), Nanhua Miao (An Interpretation of the Zhuangzi), Youlong Zhuan (Biography of the Dragon-like), and Gaodao Zhuan (Biographies of Eminent Taoists), among others.
Zhang Shangying wrote Zhenyou Ji (Record of True Journeys) to document Jia Shanxiang's life story (see Volume 51 of Lishi Zhenxian Tidao Tongyi (Comprehensive Records of Real Immortals and Dao Practitioners Through the Ages)).
