The Jia Song 贾嵩
Paul PengShare
Jia Song, a native of the Tang Dynasty, styled himself "Xueluo Ruzi" (Hermit of the Ivy).
Feeling that the records of Taoist hermit Tao Hongjing (Tao Yinju) compiled by previous scholars were overly concise and lacked systematic organization, he conducted research on historical materials such as Dengzhen Yinjue (Secret Instructions for Ascending to Perfection), Zhengao (Authentic Sayings), Taiqing Jing (Scripture of Great Purity), and Tao Hongjing’s collected works. Based on this research, he compiled Huayang Tao Yinju Neizhuan (Biography of Tao Hongjing, the Hermit of Huayang), a three-volume work intended to highlight "the way of a virtuous man retiring from the world and the traces of his pure and ascetic life."

Additionally, this work corrected errors in the records of Liang Shu (Book of Liang) and Nan Shi (History of the Southern Dynasties)
