The Jiang Ao 蒋鏊

The Jiang Ao 蒋鏊

Paul Peng
Jiang Ao was a native of Lingling County, Hunan (now part of Hunan Province) during the Ming Dynasty.

He styled himself "Xiangya". He once served as an official and governed with integrity and incorruptibility.

Later, while traveling in the mountains, he encountered an extraordinary person, who imparted to him Daoist teachings and the technique of taking elixirs for longevity. Thus, Jiang Ao abandoned his family to embrace Daoism, lived in seclusion in the mountains, and devoted himself to Daoist cultivation there.

He authored works including Zhengdao Ge (The Song of Verifying Dao) and Xiangwen Ji (The Collection of Xiang-style Writings).
