The Jiang Jingche 蒋景彻
Paul PengShare
Jiang Jingche (?-1146) was a native of Jurong in Jinling (now part of Jiangsu Province) during the early Southern Song Dynasty, and his courtesy name was Tonglao. He was the 28th Patriarch of the Shangqing School of Maoshan. At the age of eleven, he entered the Taoist school and studied under Gong Chongyin (Taoist title: Chonyin Gong).
When he heard that Yu Xiyin, a Master of the Three Grottoes (a high-ranking Taoist title), was in Qingcheng Mountain, he went to Shu (the historical name for the Sichuan Basin region) to study under Yu Xiyin. His Taoist attainments made significant progress thereafter.

During the Jianyan era (1127-1130), wars broke out and Yuanfu Palace (a Taoist temple on Maoshan) was destroyed. Taoist scriptures, registers, seals, swords, and other ritual implements were preserved thanks to Jiang Jingche. Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty praised his noble virtues and profound Taoist attainments, and granted him gold and coins to rebuild Yuanfu Palace.
Jiang Jingche passed away in the 16th year of the Shaoxing era (1146) and was posthumously awarded the title "Mr. Yuanguan".
