The Jin Benggan 金本干

Paul Peng
Jin Benggan (?—1860) was a native of Wuxing (now part of Zhejiang Province) in the Qing Dynasty.

His courtesy name was Meiting, and his Taoist title was Mingxia. He was the 15th-generation Successor Master of the Longmen School.

The Torch of the Jueyun Taoist Tradition Passed Down records: He once served as a Xiucai (a successful candidate in the imperial examination at the county level) in Gui'an. He embraced Taoism in his youth and remained unmarried for life, reviving the Huanyun Taoist Altar.

He resided at Yiyun Temple in Nanxun for many years.

He promoted and developed Taoist teachings, providing overall planning and guidance. The altar benefited greatly from his efforts. Later, he mainly practiced medicine and stayed in the temple, while also handling altar affairs, ensuring the continuous burning of incense offerings. He passed away in the tenth year of the Xianfeng reign (1860).

He is one of the curators of this store, which is officially authorized by Tianshi Fu. All items are consecrated at the temple by the resident priest team.
