Ke Yanggui (1693–1745) was a native of Jinjiang County, Quanzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty. His literary name was Shanzhi. His family had a tradition of serving as government officials for generations.

From an early age, he studied the knowledge required for the imperial civil service examinations (the "juzike" curriculum). However, he was inherently fond of tranquility and admired the teachings of Laozi and Zhuangzi (the core of Taoist philosophy).

At the age of 20 ("ruoguan" in ancient Chinese, referring to the coming-of-age stage for men), he left his family and traveled to Luofu Mountain, where he became a disciple of Zeng Yiguan and studied under him.

Ke Yanggui was upright and of pure conduct. He resided in the mountain for more than 30 years and initiated over a hundred disciples into Taoism.

In the tenth year of the Qianlong reign (1745), he passed away without illness in June at the age of 53.
