The Kong Xiyan 孔希喦

Kong Xiyan was a native of Jinhua in Fuzhou (now part of Jiangxi Province) during the Southern Song Dynasty.

He began studying Taoism when he was a child (a time referred to as "zongjiao" in ancient China, meaning the age when children’s hair was tied into two buns on either side of the head). He was held in high esteem at that time. Bai Yuchan and Kong Xiyan seemed to have a predestined bond—whenever Bai Yuchan went sightseeing or composed poems, he would definitely take Kong Xiyan with him.
