The Lai Benhua 赖本华

Lai Benhua, styled Jiesheng, was a native of Dongguan County, Guangzhou during the mid-Qing Dynasty.

His original name was Hongxi, with the courtesy name Chouye.

In his early years, he pursued studies for the imperial examinations and became a zhusheng (a title for students in the imperial examination system) of Dongguan. He was renowned for his poetic talent. Later, he entered Luofu Mountain and became a Taoist Priest, studying under Tong Fukui, the abbot of Suluo Guan (Suluo Taoist Temple).

He practiced quiet meditation in a single room and rarely interacted with others. He lived to be over eighty years old and passed away in the temple.

He authored New Records of Fushan (Luofu Mountain) and Poetry Manuscripts from Hongmian Studio, which have been handed down to later generations.

Paul Peng is a Zhengyi Taoist priest from Longhu Mountain, Jiangxi — the ancestral home of the Celestial Masters' tradition. Ordained at 25 after a dream from the Celestial Master, he has practiced for 25 years under Master Zeng Guangliang. He is one of the curators of this store, which is officially authorized by Tianshi Fu. All items are consecrated at the temple by the resident priest team.
