The Lan Daoyuan 兰道元

The Lan Daoyuan 兰道元

Paul Peng
Lan Daoyuan was a figure in the early Yuan Dynasty.

During the Quanzhi period (1321-1323), he served as the leader of the Quanzhen Sect. In the second year of the Zhizhi period (1322), he, together with Zhang Sichengtian (the leader of the Zhengyi Sect) and Wu Quanjie (of the Xuan Sect), was summoned into the imperial court. They were awarded official decrees and silver seals.

However, not long after, Lan Daoyuan was dismissed from his position as the leader of the Quanzhen Sect due to certain incidents. In the third year of the Taiding period (1326), an imperial edict was issued to remove him from all official posts and demote him to a commoner on account of his crimes.
