The Lan Fang 兰方
Paul PengShare
Lan Fang was a native of Bozhou (now part of Anhui Province) during the Northern Song Dynasty.
His courtesy name was Yuandao, and he was conferred the title "Mr. Nanyue Yangsu" (Mr. Yangsu of the Southern Mountain).

When Emperor Renzong of the Song Dynasty heard of his Taoist attainments, he specially issued an imperial edict summoning Lan Fang to the imperial court. The emperor granted him a seat, and also bestowed tea and medicinal herbs upon him, arranging for him to stay in Fanglin Garden (an imperial garden).
Before long, Lan Fang requested to return to the mountains. The emperor then conferred the aforementioned title on him and ordered him to serve as the abbot of Zhaoxian Guan (Zhaoxian Taoist Temple) on Nanyue Mountain (the Southern Mountain).
Lan Fang practiced Neidan (Inner Alchemy, a core Taoist cultivation method focused on refining one’s inner vital energy), and studied under Liu Haila. Later, when he successfully completed his Neidan practice and attained full mastery, he ascended to immortality.
