The Langmei School 榔梅派

The Langmei School, also known as the Wudang Local School, was founded by Sun Biyun.

Quoted from Records of Wudang Mountain in Volume 287 of The Imperial Encyclopedia: Sun Biyun was a native of Guanxi (the area west of the Hangu Pass). He was intelligent from an early age and aspired to learn the way of immortality. He went to Mount Hua (the Western Sacred Mountain) to follow the footsteps of Chen Tuan (styled Xiyi), living in rock caves and shelters, practicing qi absorption to nourish his spirit. He delved into the essence of the classics of Huangdi and Laozi, I Ching, Can Tong Qi (The Unity of the Three), as well as Confucian, Buddhist, historical and philosophical texts, all of which he recited proficiently. In the 27th year of the Hongwu era (1394), Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty summoned him to the capital, bestowed upon him a monastic robe, provided him with meals, and accommodated him in the Chaotian Palace. The following year, he was granted permission to return to Mount Hua.

In the 10th year of the Yongle era (1412), Emperor Chengzu summoned him again, awarded him a poem, appointed him as the Right Corrector of the Taoist Registration Office by imperial decree, and ordered him to preside over the Nanyan Palace of Wudang Mountain. He passed away in the 15th year of the Yongle era (1417). His work *Collection Collection of Azure Clouds was published. This school was founded during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. General Register of Various True Sects records the characters used for generational inheritance in the school. Later, it spread to the Douniao Temple in Gedian, Wuchang, and there are still inheritors to this day.
