The Li Dasheng 李大乘

Li Dasheng was a native of Huating County in Pingliang Prefecture (present-day Yao County, Shaanxi Province) during the Jin Dynasty, and went by the Taoist title "Lingyangzi" (Master of Numinous Yang).

In the 18th year of the Dading era (1178), he took Ma Danyang as his teacher to study Taoism.
In the 19th year of the Dading era (1179), Li Dasheng lived with Ma Danyang in a simple thatched hut surrounded by a flower garden, devoting themselves to Taoist cultivation for a hundred days.

Later, he followed Ma Danyang and resided at the Quanzhen Sect’s ancestral court for several years.

In the 22nd year of the Dading era (1182), when Ma Danyang returned eastward, Liu Wujie from Huxian County invited Li Dasheng to travel east to his home. Liu built a thatched hut to host Li Dasheng, and from then on, disciples and followers gathered around Li in large numbers.

A few years later, Li Dasheng passed away due to illness.
