The Li Deguang 李德光
Paul PengShare
Li Deguang was a native of Anren (now part of Jiangxi Province) during the reign of Emperor Huizong of the Northern Song Dynasty.
According to Records of Longhu Mountain, he studied under True Lord Xujing, practiced Taoism in Bilu Cave, and founded Chongxi Taoist Temple where he resided. Later, he accompanied the Heavenly Master (leader of the Zhengyi School of Taoism) to the imperial capital to have an audience with the emperor.
When Emperor Huizong asked him about Taoist doctrines and practices, his answers satisfied the emperor. The emperor then issued an imperial order appointing him to take charge of Taoist affairs in Henan Circuit, and renamed Chongxi Taoist Temple as "Chongxi Taoist Palace". Consequently, Li Deguang was promoted to the position of Tidian (a senior administrative official in ancient Chinese religious institutions) of Chongxi Taoist Palace, concurrently overseeing affairs of other Taoist palaces and temples.
