The Li Shouzhen 李守真

Li Shouzhen was a figure during the reign of Emperor Xianzong of the Ming Dynasty. In his youth, he traveled to Mount Laoshan, where he encountered an extraordinary person who taught him esoteric techniques for preserving health and prolonging life. Later, he lived in seclusion in the Snow Mountain of Meng County.

During the Chenghua reign of Emperor Xianzong of the Ming Dynasty (1465–1487), he was summoned to the capital. The emperor asked him about the technique for achieving longevity, and his answers satisfied the emperor. He was then appointed as a "Taichang Boshi" (a scholar-official in the Taichang Temple, which was in charge of imperial rituals, music, and sacrifices) by imperial edict, resided in Xianyou Palace, and was granted the titles "Chongxu Miaowu Zhenren" (Immortal of Profound Emptiness and Wonderful Insight) and "Taiji Hanzhenzi Li Yinxian" (Li the Recluse Immortal, Embodiment of the Supreme Ultimate’s Truth).

Later, he returned to the mountains for seclusion and passed away there. Details of his life can be found in the Annals of Yanzhou Prefecture.
