Li Sixian was a native of Jinxi, Fuzhou (now part of Jiangxi Province) during the late Song and early Yuan dynasties.

He had a thorough mastery of Taoist scriptures and was eloquent in expounding on Taoist doctrines, speaking without pause on such topics.

In the 13th year of the Zhiyuan era of the Yuan Dynasty (1276), he accompanied the Heavenly Master (the spiritual leader of Taoism's Zhengyi School) to present himself before the imperial court in the capital. After returning, he was appointed as Tiandian (an official in charge of temple affairs) of the local Taoist temple, and later passed away at an advanced age.
