Li Wenzhu was a native of Zhenjiang (now part of Jiangsu Province) during the Wanli reign period of the Ming Dynasty (1573-1620).
His courtesy name was Huiqing, and his literary name was Mengjue Daoren (Taoist Priest Awakened from Dreams).

He authored Zhouyi Cantongqi Jujie (Sentence-by-Sentence Explanation of the Zhouyi Cantongqi), a work in three volumes.
