Li Yi (?–180), also known by his courtesy name Zhongfu, was a native of Yingchuan (now part of Yuxian County, Henan Province) during the Eastern Han Dynasty. According to The Stele of Biographies of the Ancestral Masters of Louguan and The Stele Inscription of True Immortals, he had admired the profound Taoist school since childhood.
Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty built the Wangxian Palace (Palace of Viewing Immortals) adjacent to the Taoist temple and increased the number of Taoist personnel. Li Yi was selected and entered the Taoist order. Later, he met the Taihe Immortal, who took him back to Duyang Palace and instructed him to serve Immortal Lord Wang as his teacher.

Subsequently, he traveled around mountains and rivers, with no fixed abode. He passed away in the third year of the Guanghe period of Emperor Ling (180). In Taoism, he was enfeoffed as the Immortal Minister of the Western Yue (Mount Hua).
