Li Zhichang
A figure from the early Eastern Jin Dynasty.
As recorded in the Gazetteer of Changzhou County (Qianlong Reign Period): In the second year of the Taining era of Emperor Ming of the Jin Dynasty (323), the emperor dreamed that the Three Pure Ones (the highest deities in Taoism) ordered him to travel via a cloud path to Mianfanjing in Wujun Prefecture and stop there. Upon waking, the emperor issued an imperial decree to rebuild the Shangzhen Taoist Abbey.

He then selected Taoist priests of noble virtue, such as Li Zhichang, to reside there and engage in Taoist practices (including burning incense and cultivating the Dao). These priests were permanently exempted from corvée labor (unpaid mandatory labor imposed by the government).
