The Lin Dafu 林大敷
Paul PengShare
Lin Dafu (1238-1298) was a native of Pingyang in Shuijia (now part of Zhejiang Province) during the early Yuan Dynasty. He went by the literary name Zixuan and styled himself Mutongsheng.
When Master Jiang Zongying of Maoshan was traveling and propagating Taoism in eastern Zhejiang, Lin Dafu followed him to Maoshan.

In the 13th year of the Zhiyuan reign period (1276), he was initiated as a disciple by Master Xu (the given name of "许宗师" is not specified in the original text, so it is rendered as "Master Xu").
Later, he traveled extensively to the Five Great Mountains (a collective term for China’s five most renowned mountains: Taishan, Hengshan (south), Huashan, Hengshan (north), and Songshan). In his later years, he resided at Xuanzhou Jingshe (Xuanzhou Retreat, "Jingshe" refers to a quiet dwelling for scholars or Taoists, often used for meditation and study).
He passed away in the second month of the 2nd year of the Dade reign period (1298) at the age of 61.
