The Lin Qingle 林清乐

Lin Qingle was a native of Min County, Fujian, during the early Ming Dynasty.

He was also known as Lin Jingle; his courtesy name was Chunsu (alternatively recorded as Pis u).

In his youth, he studied Confucian classics and had an extensive knowledge of classics and history.

Later, he became a Taoist priest and was officially registered at Chongxi Courtyard of Longhu Mountain in Jiangxi.

When it came to Taoist scriptures and classics, he could remember them after reading them once.

He was proficient in the doctrines and rituals of the Zhengyi (Orthodox Unity) Taoist sect and took charge of affairs at Longhu Mountain’s Taoist temples. During the Yongle era (1403-1424), he was summoned to the capital, where he was granted the official title of "You Yanjia" (Right Dharma Expounding Official) of the Daolu Si (Taoist Registration Department). Soon after, he was further appointed as "Tidian" (Senior Administrator) of Nanyan Palace (Great Sage Nanyan Palace) at Taihe Mountain (also known as Wudang Mountain, titled "Taiyue" or "Great Mountain"), and took charge of all affairs related to Wudang Mountain.
