The Lin Wenneng 何道全

Lin Wenneng was a native of Fuzhou during the Yuan Dynasty. His Taoist sobriquet was "Cunxin" (literally meaning "Preserving the Heart/Mind," reflecting his spiritual pursuit of maintaining inner sincerity).

As recorded in Fujian Tongzhi (Gazetteer of Fujian): In his childhood, he studied Confucian classics. Later, he encountered a Taoist True Person (a revered title for accomplished Taoists) who preached the Dao. By studying and reflecting on the essence of Laozi (Tao Te Ching) and Zhuangzi, he suddenly attained enlightenment about the profound mysteries of the Dao.

Subsequently, he became a Taoist monk and retreated to Wuyi Mountain, where he lived in seclusion at the summit of Dawang Peak. He often used bronze talismans (a traditional Taoist ritual object believed to channel spiritual power) to treat people’s illnesses.

His reputation reached the imperial court, and he was summoned to serve in the capital, but he declined the invitation. In recognition of his virtue and wisdom, he was bestowed the honorific title "Jiangshi" (Lecturer, a title honoring his expertise in expounding Taoist teachings).

During the Taiding period of the Yuan Dynasty (1324-1327), he passed away peacefully without suffering from any illness.
