Lin Zhijian was a native of Yangzhou, Jiangsu at the end of the Yuan Dynasty.
His courtesy name was Renzhai, and his title was "Xuanmen Kaizhen Hongjiao Dazhenren" (Great True Person of Opening Truth and Promoting Teaching in the Mysterious Gate).
He wrote Annotations on the Dao De Jing, a two-volume work.
