The Supreme Cave Mysterious Numinous Treasure Scripture of the Upper Rank on the Great Precepts of Wisdom and Original Vows
Also known as The Supreme Scripture of the Upper Rank on the Great Precepts of Wisdom and Original Vows for Dispelling Demons, Protecting the Body, and Calming the Mind, it is one of the ancient Numinous Treasure Scriptures of Taoism, probably compiled in the late Eastern Jin Dynasty and early Southern Dynasties.

It was already recorded in Lu Xiujing’s Catalogue of Numinous Treasure Scriptures.
Consisting of one scroll, it is included in the Benwen (Original Text) category of the Dongxuan (Cave Mysterious) Section of the Daoist Canon.
In addition, there are three fragmentary manuscript copies from Dunhuang (P2468, S6394, P2400).
The scripture is pseudonymously presented as a dialogue between the Supreme Ultimate True Person (Xu Laile) and Ge Xuan, the Supreme Ultimate Immortal Lord. It explains the karmic cycles of human life and the causes of retributions for sins and merits, urging people to accumulate good deeds and perform meritorious acts.
It holds that those who seek immortality must first establish meritorious virtues, and then practice Taoist techniques such as breath regulation, taking elixirs, wearing talismans, and reciting scriptures, so that they will surely attain immortality. Without such merits and virtues, even if one practices Taoist arts, they will have no spiritual efficacy.
The scripture enumerates the Great Precepts of Wisdom and Original Vows, including exhortatory precepts and vows such as "Sixty Aspirations", "Ten Meritorious Precepts of Encouraging Goodness and Assistance", and "Ten Calamities".
Its content is nothing more than urging people to reverently venerate the Three Jewels (the Dao, the scriptures, and the Taoist priests), be loyal to the monarch and filial to parents, cultivate the Dao and accumulate virtues, and so on.
