Lingtu Category

It is the fourth category among the Twelve Categories in the Taoist scripture classification system.

Taoist Doctrine Essentials·Meaning of the Twelve Parts interprets "Ling" (spiritual) as profound wonder and "Tu" (diagram) as depiction and transmission, referring to depicting profound mysteries and passing them down to later generations.

Thus, it states: "Lingtu includes the imagery of the Five Emperors embodying celestial essences and the diagrams depicting the form of the Three-in-One (Sanyi)."

Works in this category are mostly illustrations of the original scriptures (Benwen) or writings centered on images.
